Pictures

I finally had a little time to download some pictures from last weeks Homecoming activities. The team giving Cassie her flowers on "dig pink"night. She went through ovarian cancer this summer and is now "cancer-free".

Courtney celebrating a touchdown they scored in the powderpuff game against the junior girls.

Courtney almost caught this pass...she did catch one other pass for significant yardage but I didn't get a picture of that catch.

"Babying" her sore ankle during the dig pink game.

One of Courtney's hits in the dig pink game.
What a busy but fun week!!!!!!

Busy Week

It was a busy week with homecoming activities and volleyball.
The girls played a "dig pink" volleyball game on Thursday. Both teams wore pink and the girls raised money for breast cancer awareness and research. They also gave out flowers to women in the stands that have had or are going through breast cancer, what a tear-jerker. The team also gave flowers to one of their teammates who just had ovarian cancer but is now cancer free! I really teared up during this! Our team will go to Madison next Monday when Madison hosts a "dig pink" game.
I got lots done over the weekend too. We spent all day Saturday outside getting caught up on some farm stuff that has been put off and needing to get done. Yesterday I spent most of the day in the house getting odds and ends done around here! I still could use a few more days like yesterday to get it all caught up but oh well, life goes on!

Coronation

The Homecoming Coronation was last night.
It was a fun night and the girls looked gorgeous and the boys were very handsome. Courtney did not get queen but her good friend Tasha did and she is very deserving of this honor. The girls all got ready at Tasha's house. Here they are all dressed up and ready to go.

It is homecoming week this week here! Busy, busy and Fun, Fun! Lots of great memories will be made this week.

Courtney is one of the homecoming candidates, along with 3 of her best friends and 4 awesome boys. The king and queen will be chosen tonight and any one of them is very deserving of the honor!

Tell me about some of your high school homecoming memories!

Salsa

I got some tomatoes from Chad's cousin this week (my garden didn't do too well, the weeds got away from me and I sprayed most of it with roundup). It was a a busy week but I did manage to find time to can some salsa with the tomatoes. Homemade salsa in the middle of the winter is the best!

Busy Week

We have a really busy week this week. Volleyball was away last night and also away (2 hours) on Thursday night. Football is away (2 hours) on Friday night and then a volleyball tourney all day Saturday. I don't know how Courtney does it, I have a hard time keeping up and I am just watching.

We are going to start cutting silage tomorrow....yeah, finally! Should be interesting juggling that, the job and Courtney's schedule.

Chad's new baby

We were at the hog barns working the other day and I had to take a picture of Chad and Mayson. He does this with her all the time. She is like his baby!

SD State Fair

Just thought I would share a picture of my nephew Mitchell with you that my other nephew Nolan took at the fair.
They are Case-IH fans so we thought this would be cute with him showing the #1 sign standing on a John Deere tractor (my favorite).
*
I had a blast at the fair this year.
Courtney and I went with my sister Cheryl and her son Nolan. We met our mom and other sister Rochelle there. I got to watch my niece Nikki show 2 of her calves and she even got showmanship...yeah Nikki....she is pretty awesome with her calves! We wandered around the fair and looked through the buildings and at projects while Rochelle helped Nikki get her calves ready. We had my nephew Mitchell (7) with us and he just cracked us up all day...what a great kid! After the calf show was done, my mom, sisters, aunt, step-dad, Rochelle's mother-in law and I all went to the wine tasting building.....so much fun! We sampled some wine and then topped it off with a wine spritzer. It was a GREAT day!

More volleyball!

Last Thursday was another volleyball match. They lost but played so much better than they did last year. They are looking so good! Here is Courtney as she gets announced.

My niece Kassidy (6'1") is a sophomore and made varsity this year. She came in and got to play quite a bit on Thursday night. She did great, had many blocks! Here is one of the blocks that I happened to catch with my camera. Way to go Kassidy, we are so proud of you!

Courtney and her friend Tayler cheering.

Football cheerleaders....Courtney is on the bottom in the back right.

This is how Courtney hugs her dad for parents night....good grief! She's definitely a lively one!

Volleyball

Volleyball has begun!
Saturday we traveled to Estelline for a tourney and the first volleyball action of the year.
The girls really struggled last year so we are hoping for a little better season this year.
They went 2-2 at the tourney and they looked pretty good!
Courtney setting...

Blocking.....

Hitting.....
You will have to excuse the yellow photos as we were playing in their old gym with awful lighting...enough to give me a headache!

It's going to be an interesting year as she is setting half rotation and hitting half rotation.

Adventure

I started a new adventure in my life today....a "real" job!
I am waitressing at the Bull Pen in Lake Norden 2-3 days a week over the lunch hour. I worked today and it was kinda fun. We do the senior meals so I got to visit with a few friendly seniors.
It's been 18 years since I have worked so this is totally different for me.
